One of the most popular myths about weight loss is that with starvation, you would lose weight quickly and be slim and fit! People, especially those who are new to weight loss, believe that if they starve non-stop for several weeks, all their pounds will disappear and they could eat junk food again.

In the weight loss industry, there are two types of concepts: truths and myths. You need to discover and accept the truth and ignore the myth. However, this is easier said than done. In the modern world, lies are more attractive and famous than truths, and as such, most people fall in love with lies and harm themselves. However, this will not happen to you if you take the time to read this article. In this article I will talk about one of the main prevailing myths that is seriously affecting the weight loss industry.

The truth, however, is not so rosy! In fact, your body requires a certain amount of calories per day to function properly. Once your body is deprived of this basic nutrition, it feels like you are killing it. To protect himself from death, he would go into what is known in medical parlance as “starvation mode.” While in starvation mode, your body will stop the fat burning process by reducing your metabolic rate.

The bottom line would be that even if you lose a few pounds, it will be a water weight loss, which is often the result of starvation and not fat loss. The water weight loss is temporary and the lost weight will return once you start eating normally. If you want to achieve permanent weight loss, you must lose fat. Hunger has really helped you lose weight and get fit.

There are diets that require you to eat only one piece of carrot or one glass of lemon juice during a twenty-four (24) hour period. What these diets are doing is starving you. Once again, your body would stop the fat burning process to protect itself from premature death. Worse yet, when you stop the diet and go into normal eating mode, you will gain a few extra pounds above what you started with.

There is something else. Hunger decreases your muscle mass. Normally, your body uses carbohydrates to produce the necessary energy. But when you’re starving, your carbohydrate storage quickly depletes, leaving you with only fat and muscle. By nature, your body would keep the fat intact for future use and would begin to burn muscle for energy.

As you lose muscle, your metabolic rate will automatically drop! There would come a time when you would have more fat than muscle. This is not an ideal situation. If you have very little muscle, you will not be able to burn fat or lose weight, because muscles are what help you burn fat fast!

I ask that you take my word for the information that I have shared with you. I was there and I did. Do yourself a big favor. Check out any diet, weight loss program, etc. with your doctor.
