Materialistic attachments and spiritual freedom

Footprints in the sand and the mind are worth reflecting on in solitude to understand reality. It will open up new perspectives of hidden meanings and concepts by exposing the character of human beings. Their personalities are distinct and clear or camouflaged and deceptive. Volatility and stability are directly proportional to your myopic approach or diligent performance of your duties. There are various opinions and interpretations for or against the fundamental concept of freedom. Therefore, it is mandatory for each individual and family to seriously inquire about the facts and factuality. The analysis must be subjective and objective in a healthy and non-malicious way.

There is another aspect, which needs a cautious and careful approach to determine that the theme does not alter from its intended reason. At this juncture, individually and collectively we find ourselves at a crossroads of deviation from materialistic attachment and spiritual freedom. We need to make a firm decision in which direction we should take the first step in order to achieve success and satisfaction. It seems appropriate to me to analyze what the relationship between the spiritual and the materialistic consists of. Relationship is defined as the state of being related or interrelated. The definition is broad in its meaning and concept. It varies from commercial, social, political, cultural and personal etc. I am strictly restricting my views to the spiritual and materialistic aspects within and outside the leaps of the abstract and reality.

Laws and regulations are tools to also achieve mercy and accountability. The aims and objectives have been clearly and completely defined. I am not starting a debate between religions and their concept and role within their doctrine. Whatever the faith and doctrine; teaches to be a good human being. It means that the relationship defines values as its central concept and preaches to achieve spiritual freedom. Why is it emphasized because of our attachments to materialistic means and values?

Materialistic attachments played a dominant role in human life, plus it also makes them vulnerable to reality. Worldly love distracts the human being and makes him volatile in his thinking and disposition. Here, the possession need not be phenomenal in nature. Even an insignificant value can also make a dent in his thinking. Aristotle says: “It belongs to the nature of desire not to be satisfied, and most men live only to satisfy it.” This evidently established that man has become a victim of materialistic possession of him. It means that he has chained himself to worldly possession, therefore he has neglected his main responsibility to understand the spiritual reality of life.

The best thing in life is to achieve spiritual freedom. The deepest and most deeply rooted in humanity is the universal declaration that Imam Hussain Ibne Ali made in Karbala (Iraq 1400 years ago). At the last moment, before the brutal murder of him, he called Yazid’s army and said: “Oh! The (Arab-Shia) friends of Abusufyaan, if you believe that you will not return to Allah and will not be taken into account”. your deeds, at least be a free person.” Here he meant spiritual freedom. He is also known as “Father of Freedom” (Arabic Version-Abu Ahraar).

If we keep ourselves chained to materialistic attachments, all the good advice will be in vain. So spiritual freedom is what every human being wants to aspire to. It means that you need to think beyond worldly attachments. If you fail to detach yourself from material possessions, the mind subsequently becomes unfocused. Then he wanders into the desert of greed and lust, endangering human values and dignity.
