Michigan’s Best Weekend Getaways

Weekend getaways in Michigan are relaxing and enjoyable thanks to its wonderful scenery and quaint towns. From the water that surrounds the state to the myriad of natural wonders, you’ll find it hard to spend just one weekend in the Great Lakes state.

Tahquamenon Falls State Park

This park is truly nature at its finest. The world around you in this 38,000-acre area is a perfect picture of beautiful, tranquil serenity. Visitors can choose from numerous outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, canoeing, and camping. You’ll also have plenty of opportunities to witness woodland creatures in their natural habitat.

Sandhills Lighthouse Hostel

This particular lighthouse has a long history dating back to 1917 and continuing until 1939. Today, it has become a historical landmark for tourists. From the Victorian charm of the rooms to its wide range of seasonal activities, Sandhills has something for everyone. In the summer, you can visit the Lake Superior shoreline. In the spring, you can walk the trails. Fall is the best time to enjoy the changing leaves, while winter is perfect for skiing and enjoying Michigan as a winter wonderland.

Music lovers should visit the Motown Museum at least once during their trip to Michigan. Detroit, MI is home to Motown Records, which is where some of the biggest names in music got their success. The museum is filled with photographs, memorabilia, and artifacts from the record label and its most famous stars, including Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, and Lionel Richie. Once you’ve completed this part of your vacation, choose a nearby resort or hotel to complete one of your weekend getaways.

Contemplating several different weekend getaways? Why not pack up your vehicle and head to Waffle Farm Campgrounds? It is located on Craig Lake and Morrison Lake and offers over 300 campsites to choose from, ranging from sites with no services to fully hookup sites located near the water. You can even choose to stay in a two or three bedroom cabin. You can lie on the beach, fish, kayak, boat or take your children to the playground.
