Play Summer Golf in Phoenix, are you crazy?

If you like golf like I do, you must visit the beautiful state of Arizona, in particular the Phoenix regional area. With more than 325 sunny days a year and more than three hundred golf courses in the area, this is a true paradise for golf lovers. Numerous golf professionals have homes in the Scottsdale area. The famous golf club producer PING is also based here in Scottsdale.

Now to the point, if you come to Phoenix in the summer, you won’t believe how cheap green fees can be. Did I hear you say that I must be crazy? Well maybe a little bit, but at that time of year, would you believe that you can play 18 hole golf on some courses for less than $ 10.00? With the current economic situation in our country, especially in Phoenix, there is a lot of rivalry between the golf courses. In fact, I’ve played Springfield Lakes in Chandler several times this summer for $ 12.50. It’s 18 holes with a cart and I’ve heard them offer $ 8 deals!

The trick to playing golf in Phoenix in the summer months is pretty clear … play golf EARLY. As you can imagine, summers in Phoenix are very hot and can be a bit humid at times. Please leave before 6 a.m. M. And you should have it ready. Please note that some courses do not allow departure times before 6am. M. These are the main advantages of starting the course early:

1) Golf at a bargain price, what else do I need to say?

2) You are one of the first, if not the first, on the course that day. That means there is no one in front of you.

3) In addition to number 2, if you are first on the field and start playing at 5:30 am, you will have finished at 9 am before it gets incredibly hot.

Depending on the course, expect to pay between $ 15 and $ 75 per round. Keep in mind that golf courses like Dinosaur in Gold Canyon and Troon in Scottsdale can cost upwards of $ 200 per round in the winter. Now you can see why summer golf is hard to beat here!

If you are coming from out of state, this is also the cheapest time of year for both resorts / hotels and airfares. It’s not uncommon to book a resort room for half the winter price. When you’re done golfing, float in the pool for the rest of the day with your favorite drink.

Let me leave you some other tips on golf during the summer. Drink lots of water and stay hydrated, dehydration can sneak up on you quickly. Wear plenty of 30 spf sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat is also recommended. Parasols are also essential. Hope to see you on the links!
