The simple little trick I’m talking about that will help you is having pre-writes. These are nothing more than pre-written raps that you keep in your head for moments like the one above. You’re probably thinking to yourself that you’re supposed to freestyle from the top of your head, I can’t use pre-written raps.
Here’s how to use them correctly:
You’ll want to correct some raps that are geared towards places where you normally freestyle rap with your friends. For example, if most of the time your ciphers take place in the basement, you will want to raps on things that have to do with the basement. If your ciphers sometimes take place in the car, you’ll want to write your raps about being in a car.
Now when you get rap, you’ll start by saying one of your many pre-written streams. As you spit, you need to mentally take notes of the things that are around you at the moment, so that when you are done with your previous writing, you can seamlessly enter the overhead mode.
