Top reasons to stay at the Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas

If you have never had the opportunity to travel to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, this is a place you must try! The resort is like a trip to another world, located on the shores of Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas. It is incredibly picturesque, with pink and coral towers that stretch out overlooking coves, bays and the beautiful waters of the Bahama Islands. Once you’re snuggled up in your room by the pool or beach, you’ll have the opportunity to explore all the tropical fish and aquarium activity, dolphins, and the Atlantis “dig” that’s uncovering all the ancient artifacts…

The entire concept of the resort is the lost island of Atlantis that Plato wrote about many years ago, and which some say is located near or in the Bahamas. Divers have found strange underwater stone “paths” on at least one of the islands. Atlantis Resort has made that a theme, where they’ve created “digs” on the property that you can tour and see some of the weird and wonderful discoveries that were found below the surface or under the water. You can also enjoy the many tropical aquariums loaded with exotic species of fish, including the Pacific Manta Ray, which was one of my favorites. They have at least two of them and it’s fun to watch as they slide their huge bodies through the water and swim gracefully to show off.

There is a tunnel that you can explore with ruins and it is part of the Atlantis dig which also has fantastic views of the underwater habitat of the many types and varieties of fish in the many tanks. These are not just local aquarium type internal tanks, they are open to the environment in natural pools and some of them are also interconnected. There are sharks of different species swimming from one pool to another, and the complex makes it very easy to see them with several bridges and other high points around. There are wonderfully landscaped trails throughout the property, and you could spend most of your day just exploring the different areas and locations.

They have at least 3 tropical themed pools at the Atlantis Resort, with plenty going on at each one, and a special kiddie pool for the little ones. If you are interested in a little more active game then try swimming with the dolphins in your own large enclosed lagoon! For an additional fee, you can get in the water with the dolphins and take part in a program where you can interact, touch and swim with them. This program is very popular, so be sure to make your reservation as soon as you arrive at the resort!

How about some snorkeling? They have a fantastic cove right on the beach that is very sheltered from the rough shore waves, and has amazing clarity and also lots of beautiful tropical fish of various kinds. Be careful though, there is one species that shouldn’t be there, and that is the beautiful lionfish or scorpionfish! This fish is native to the tropical areas of the Pacific and was imported to Atlantis for use in their aquariums and outdoor fish tanks. However, there was an accident of some kind and some of them were thrown into the ocean by mistake, and they have been thriving all over the area and up and down the Atlantic coast of the US ever since! I found at least one of them in the secluded cove for diving at the Atlantis Resort, and they have poisonous spines that you don’t want to accidentally touch or step on, so it’s always a good idea to wear footwear of some kind while you’re out. you are in the ocean.

Beware of the prices at the Atlantis Resort too, because it is NOT an all-inclusive resort! Almost everything is an additional fee and can really add to the total cost of your stay. There are many excellent restaurants, but none of them are included in your stay and you can choose between them for an additional charge. If you’re looking to save a little money, there’s a great marina strip of restaurants right next to the property a couple of minutes’ walk away that will likely have much better prices than the resort, and you’ll want to go there anyway for some shopping. opportunities.

Anyway, I hope everyone gets a chance to visit this great resort, even though it’s a bit more expensive than many others due to the fact that it’s not an all-inclusive resort, you’ll definitely want to try it out at least once. You’ll enjoy the many swimming areas and slides at this huge water park and aquarium, and be sure to take plenty of pictures! It’s a great place to go and decompress from the stress of everyday life. Have fun!
