1. Location: Taking a long and difficult commute to work every day can demoralize anyone in no time. Having to drive 10 minutes from the office just to find a place to eat or get gas can be just as frustrating. Consider not only easy access to your office for your clients, but also convenience for your employees when choosing office space.
2. Sunlight – Sounds funny doesn’t it? Try to be locked in a windowless indoor office and your only breaks will be in a windowless break room. While not everyone can have the corner office, finding a building that has a large atrium or foyer allows those who don’t have a window in their office a place to spend a few minutes gazing at the sun.
3. Quiet space – This probably applies to offices located within a manufacturing facility rather than a typical office building, however typical office buildings can also be very noisy. Finding an office space that has a pleasant outdoor area or a large lobby could help accommodate employees looking for a quiet space.
4. Safety – In this day and age, this should probably be point number one. Regardless of range, this is crucial to providing the ideal office space. You and your employees should not have to park in a parking space without light or enter a building that has no one in the reception area. There should also be at a minimum locks on each door and a security alarm system, if you can find a facility that offers video security and a guard that would be ideal.
5. Everything Works – Why pay rent or lease for an office space when all the amenities aren’t working? Check with other tenants when looking for offices and see what complaints they have about the complex. If found to be consistent, this could be a red flag indicating a poorly managed installation.
