Choosing a Diet – Atkins Diet: Less Skeptical Medical Community

A report in The American Journal of Medicine says…

After all, the Atkins diet can help your heart and has been given a sort of SCIENTIFIC endorsement. The medical community is less skeptical of the Atkins diet than of all the large amounts of protein and fat in the diet; saying people can lose weight twice as fast Based on a 6-month study on a low-carb/high-fat diet as an individual on a low-fat/calorie-restricted diet. However, it is believed that people will gain weight back faster once they go off the Atkins diet.

Regardless of the type of diet you choose, making a weight loss and maintenance program a lifestyle change will reduce weight fluctuations.

  • Incorporate portion control into the equation, exercise 3-4 times per week (approximately 20-30 minutes per session).
  • Eat less sugary carbohydrates, that is, candy, cookies, cakes, and tarts, which are basically the empty calories in your daily diet.
  • Whether you’re following a low-fat/calorie-restricted, Mediterranean, low-cholesterol, or low-carb diet, such as the Atkin diet; or any other diet, as getting up and moving (exercise), reducing the portions you eat (reducing calories), and healthier eating habits in general is a recipe for success. It all starts with a positive attitude and the desire to live a healthier and trimmer life!

Risk factors such as…

Atherosclerosis and weight loss should be studied long-term before a carbohydrate-restricted diet is endorsed, says The New England Journal of Medicine.

What kind of diets have you been doing? I’ve heard of so many over the years:

  • The grapefruit diet
  • chocolate diet
  • ice cream diet
  • liquid diet
  • 3 day diet
  • protein diet
  • cottage cheese diet

Oh my! In my opinion, it is always better to eat regular food, but reduce your portion sizes. This cuts calories, and before you know it, you’ll have lost weight too. It may be slower than a crash diet, or one of the fad diets, but in the long run, the weight should be maintained longer.

Eating what you normally eat, but less of it, will also prevent you from binge eating. Don’t run out of the foods you love, as mentioned, decrease your portion size. Eat a cup of pasta instead of 2-3. Increase the amount of vegetables you eat, serve 2-3 different vegetables and no more than 3 oz. of cooked meat Lighten in breads.

These are all tips that help balance the weight!
