Some ferret owners would rather just buy a fully loaded ferret cage that has just about everything in it. However, not everyone can afford these types of cages, so you’ll need to know how to set up your ferret cage based on the materials you have on hand.
Tips on how to set up your ferret’s cage;
o Choose a very sturdy cage. It has to be solid and secured with a padlock and latch. Ferrets are very cunning creatures that would try to chew up everything including your houses.
o The cages have to be as spacious as possible. Ferrets like to run, so you may want to give them as much free space as possible so they don’t feel too trapped or confined.
o Prepare makeshift beds for your ferrets inside their cages to keep them warm on cold nights. They may have fur, but they still feel cold when the weather is really strenuous.
o Designate a play area, feeding area, and litter area. This would teach your ferret where littering is allowed and where it is not. Also, this would make cleaning much more efficient.
o Cover the sleeping area with cloth or anything that makes it soft and comfortable.

o Cages should be secured especially when ferrets are inside because they will always try to escape. Make sure the lock is not rusted or compromised.
o The cage should have a good coat of paint to prevent chipping and rust. If you want a cage that will last a long time, be sure to paint it with coats of enamel.
o Install the cage where it is not likely to get wet. This is very important because ferrets are sensitive to water. They can also get sick if they are near areas where mosquitoes and other insects breed.
