Spectacular New Year’s Eve celebrations around the world!

The start of a New Year is a globally celebrated event with parties, music, and displays of all kinds. Let’s take a look at some of the top New Year’s Eve celebrations around the world!

It’s time to drop the ball!

Times Square in New York is another well-known New Year’s Eve hotspot, and the spectacular event is the ball drop at midnight to usher in the New Year. The Times Square Ball is located on the roof of One Times Square and falls 141 feet in 60 seconds, starting at 11:59:00. The festivities begin at 6:00 pm with the ball raised and the countdown begins with 6 hours to go. Accompanied by live entertainment and concerts by eminent musicians, Times Square is an iconic place to ring in the New Year!

London calling!

Old Blighty might have lost its luster, but the UK still has a few moves left. New Year’s Eve celebrations center around Big Ben and the London Eye. Big Ben chimes to mark midnight on New Year’s Eve in London, followed by the largest fireworks display in the country, presented by the Mayor of London. The event is ticketed, so you better book your tickets in advance, as they’re bound to sell out, before you can say ‘some tea’!

European hip-hop!

It’s time to turn our heads towards hip-hop Europe, starting with Germany. The capital city has a mile-long party zone with live music, disco and laser shows culminating in, you guessed it, a spectacular fireworks display at midnight! There are many trendy clubs offering DJ music and a great party atmosphere. If that’s not your cup of tea, the Berlin Philharmonic performs its annual New Year’s Eve concert, a special treat for classical music enthusiasts. PS: It’s free entry for everyone! Nearby food stalls serving food from around the world, make sure you never go hungry. Berlin is heating up to be a great option to spend New Year’s Eve!

NYE meets UAE!

As more clocks strike 12 around the world, it’s time to head to the opulent Middle East and the United Arab Emirates, where New Year’s celebrations are taking place at the Burj Dubai. A Guinness World Record feat, ‘Light Up 20XX’ is the largest sound and light show in a single structure. Displayed in 109,252 square meters of the Burj Khalifa, it’s a sight to behold against the night sky and a fitting way to ring in the New Year. The exhibition lasts 10 minutes and is accompanied by multiple musical performances to make the evening even more special.

Down under the NYE festivities!

One of the first cities where the clock strikes 12, Sydney rings in the New Year with spectacular twin New Year’s Eve fireworks. Known as the port city, Sydney Harbor is the place to be and a New Years cruise even more so, to fully appreciate the grandeur of these spectacular displays.

A musically choreographed fireworks display from the Harbor Bridge and surrounding barges in Sydney Harbor is the highlight of the evening, not to mention the visual ensemble that includes the Sydney Harbor Bridge Effect and the Sydney Harbor Bridge Effect! Parade of the Port of Light!
