the pole tango

The newer, fifth-generation VW Polo was launched in October 2009 and was named European Car of the Year 2010 shortly after its launch. In April 2010, the Polo added the 2010 World Car of the Year accolade to its name. Volkswagen UK sold 45,282 Polo models last year, making 2010 the best-selling year for cars since 2003.

Volkswagen has been running a new TV ad to promote the Polo; Tango-themed ads feature two of the world’s best dancers doing a sensational dance. The ad promotes the polo shirt as “tough but beautiful”.

In order to promote the VW Polo, it is currently offering £500 off all new Polo models except BlueMotion and GTI models. The entry-level 60bhp 1.2-litre Volkswagen Polo S three-door is just £9,495.

This offer applies to all Volkswagen Polo models purchased from stock through a UK Volkswagen dealer and registered before 31st March 2011. The Polo comes with a good choice of engines, the Polo from entry comes with the 1.2-litre engine with 59bhp or 69bhp. The 1.4-litre is more powerful and the 1.2-litre turbo impresses as well. The GTI comes with the turbocharged-supercharged engine. The diesels consist of a 1.2-litre power plant with 74bhp, the 1.6-litre comes with 89bhp.

The Polo is a typical city car; It has very agile steering and the ability to take corners with ease. Unlike sportier competitors, the Polo doesn’t have a stiff suspension, so there’s a lot of body roll.
