What to bring and wear to a water/amusement park

To help you figure out what to wear and what to take with you to the different parks, I’ve compiled a list to help you out. Depending on the type of park you go to, what you need and should wear will sometimes vary.

Especially for both types of parks, you will want to bring the following

Camera

You want to be able to capture all the fun you’re having. By taking pictures, you will be able to remember your trip for years to come.

Sun screen

Most of the day you will be outside. Even if it doesn’t seem so sunny, it’s important to bring sunscreen and make sure everyone is putting it on. This is especially important for children.

Something to entertain the kids on the drive there.

If it takes you a while to get where you’re going, be sure to bring something to help entertain the kids in the car. This will make the journey smoother and you will be in a better mood once you reach your destination.

ยท A stroller for the little ones.

When there’s a lot of walking to do, a stroller is nice, so you don’t have to worry about carrying the kids all day.

Money

Nowadays, most places accept debit and credit cards, but it is important to have a backup. You may run into small vendors who don’t or machines may even go down, but if you have cash to back you up, you won’t have to worry about this.

mini first aid kit

There should be at least one person in a group who has some sort of mini first aid kit. This should at least include Band-Aids, Tylenol, and Neosporin. A headache is the last thing you want to have, when you have a lot of wrinkles that you want to keep up with.

A mesh bag for swimming.

A mesh bag that you can put on your back is more practical than a bag when you’re in a park. You can put more things on it, both guys and girls can wear them, and you don’t have to worry about one shoulder starting to hurt from all the weight on one side.

What to bring to the water park?

Children

swim diaper

All children still in diapers must wear swim diapers. I know there are chemicals in the pool, but that shouldn’t make a difference. Putting your child in the right diaper is the right thing to do. No one wants to have to worry about floaties while in the water.

Lifejacket

If the child or children you are with do not know how to swim or have a low swimming level, you must ensure that you take the appropriate safety precautions. This includes a life jacket or any other buoyant device.

Sandals / Water Shoes

Children tend not to pay attention to where they walk. To keep them from getting into something you might find gross, it’s a good idea to bring them sandals or water shoes. You don’t want to bring regular shoes that you have to wear socks with, these can become uncomfortable if they get wet and start to stink. In the water park, the concrete is also hot if it is not covered by the sun or wet. Some children may have a lower pain tolerance; therefore, they will not be able to handle it. If you don’t want to have to worry about taking your child or children with you when they’re not in the water, it’s a good idea to make sure they have something on their feet.

Swimsuits

Children must wear the appropriate bathing suit when in the park. Many parks will not allow children into the park if they are dressed in normal clothing. It’s okay to leave them on as a clean t-shirt if you’re afraid they’ll burn, but other than that, you should stick to clothing that’s meant to be worn in the water.

Set of dry clothes to change

It’s good to bring dry clothes to change into after you’re done for the day, especially if you’ll be spending more time in your car. After a long day outside, the kids will most likely be exhausted and tired by the time they get to the car. You want to make sure they are as comfortable as possible to keep grumpiness to a minimum.

Adults

appropriate bathing suit

It is VERY important that adults bring real bathing suits to wear to the water park. No one wants to see someone walking around in a bra and underwear or boxers. There’s a reason it’s a separate swimwear line, so use it! Also make sure it fits properly. Most people don’t want to be able to see anything hanging or coming out! This is a family park and you have to remember that there are children walking around.

Sandals

Be sure to bring sandals or water shoes to wear in and out of the park. Tennis shoes can be a pain in the ass because most areas you go to contain water, so your feet will most likely get wet. You don’t want wet feet trapped in tennis shoes. This is uncomfortable and stinks!

clothes to change

It’s good to have a set of dry clothes to change into when you leave the park. That way, if you decide to stop anywhere before reaching your final destination for the night, you don’t have to worry about what you’re wearing.

Towels

Make sure you have towels for everyone in the family. At some point everyone will want to dry out. They are also nice to lie on the beach chairs to reserve their spots. This way, your family will have a place to return to throughout the day if they want to take a break. This also makes it easier to find people during the day.

What to bring to theme/amusement parks

Children / Adults

Comfortable clothes

Although during the day you will do different types of movement, you should avoid wearing rigid clothing. You may even end up getting wet from one of the wrinkles, so you should avoid wearing dark underwear under light clothing and anything you don’t want to get wet.

Comfortable shoe

Most trips to an amusement park or theme park contain a lot of walking. This makes wearing comfortable shoes very important. You want to avoid any type of shoe that can lead to blisters, and any shoe that you don’t want to get dirty. The best thing to do is choose comfortable tennis shoes or sandals that you know you can wear throughout the day.
