3 Effective Ways To Fix PS3 Internet Connection Problems

I had trouble connecting the PS3 to the Internet the other day. I kept getting an error message on my screen when connecting. However, my laptop can access the Internet through the same router just fine. Fortunately, after a long research, I found a way to fix this PS3 internet connection problem. Here is what I did…

First, update my wireless router. As you may know, routers driver software needs to be updated regularly to keep it working at its best. Make sure it is updated to the latest version to avoid any potential inconvenience.

Second, change the SSID and WEP password. SSID (Service Set Identifier) is the name of your wireless network. You can discover different wireless networks listed there, choose yours. Remember to lower the security if you use WEP encryption because high security can cause internet problems on the PS3. And add your PS3 as an accepted device if your WAPs are configured to filter MAC address.

Third, go to Internet Connection Settings. PS3 internet connection issues are often resolved by changing your network settings. Follow the steps listed below:

a) Change your DNS server address to OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.222, and make sure your PS3 settings are set to auto/easy.
b) Locate the IP address of your router.
c) Open a web browser (Firefox which is what I use) on a computer connected to your router (For the PS3 browser not to work, you must use a computer).
d) Manually type the IP address of your router in the address bar.
e) Make sure to enter the correct username and password you ever set if prompted. If you never set one, you must enter the default username and password. You can find them in the manual of your router. Try the username “admin” without a password in case you can’t get any information there. But there is only a small chance that you can get through.
f) Once logged in, manually enter “Primary and Secondary DNS”. Enter the DNS address 208.67.222.222 as Primary and 208.67.220.220 as Secondary.
g) Check and see if the PS3 internet connection problem still exists.

I hope they are useful.
