prescription:

for 4 people

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

1 seat

1/2 cup chana dal (Bengal gram division)

2 medium onions finely chopped

2 green chiles finely chopped

Salt to taste

1 teaspoon red chili powder

1 teaspoon of turmeric powder

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

2 tablespoons of cooking oil

Method:

To make Chana Dal Pulao, first wash and soak the rice in enough water.

Similarly, clean, wash and soak the sparkler gram in water for at least 1 hour.

Next, heat the oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and sauté for a few seconds. Add the chopped onion, green chiles and sauté until the onion is browned.

Add salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and sauté again for a few seconds.

Now drain the soaked Bengal gram dal and add it to the pressure cooker along with 1 cup of water.

Pressure cook the dal for two whistles over medium heat. Put out the fire. Allow the steam to release naturally from the pressure cooker.

Open the lid, add the water-soaked rice and stir to combine.

Now add enough water in the pressure cooker to cook the rice.

Reduce heat to low and allow rice to simmer.

Turn off the heat and cover the pressure cooker with a lid. Let the pulao rest in this mode for 5 to 10 minutes.

Open the pressure cooker lid and fluff the rice with a fork or spoon.

Serve Chana Dal Khichdi along with raita, green chutney, papad and salad.
