Coach Bag Color Abbreviations

You can find the color abbreviations for your Coach bag on most of the price tags that come with these bags. Knowing what colors the letters and numbers represent can be practically nothing more than guesswork if you are not familiar with the product. There are several reasons why combinations are difficult to understand. First, there are many colors. Second, Coach generally separates color abbreviations for each part or material the bag is made of. For example, you’ll have a color abbreviation for fabric, leather, and hardware. When so many combinations are used, it can get confusing! Still, it’s very useful.

Let’s see what the color abbreviation of a coach bag might look like. Generally, the order of the abbreviations is hardware, body, leather. We will use a Soho Signature Wristlet as an example. The body of the bracelet is khaki. The hardware is silver, and the leather trim, hang tag, and strap are chocolate. The label code (or color abbreviation), usually in the upper right corner, will probably show the following:

SHCCH

This abbreviation code stands for S-Silver, KH-Khaki, and CH-Chocolate. Pretty easy, right?

Not quite! (but we’ll get over it!) Chocolate and chestnut have similar colors and who would really know that CH is chocolate and not chestnut, or cherry for that matter? If you need to know these color abbreviations, it can get confusing. These Coach color abbreviations are important when it comes to finding a perfect match for your Coach bag or accessory. Sometimes the colors are very similar, but you can only be sure of a perfect match by using the Coach color abbreviations found on the label.

Another variation on how color abbreviations are used is that some abbreviations like Pink will have a number after them like: Pk1 or Pk4. This can be especially important to know when shopping online. The only sure way to get an exact match is color abbreviations and it’s always best to ask the seller what the color code says on the label before you buy, making sure it’s the same as the color abbreviation printed on your label.

The hardware does not offer so many problems and is quite simple. The main metals you will see are BZ-Bronze, B-Brass, GM-Gun Metal, and S or SV-Silver. Brass will often have a number after it, such as B4. To many, brass is brass with the exception of antique brass, but again, if you’re looking for a perfect match, coach abbreviations are the only surefire way to go.

Although not important for matching, Coach also has some standard tag abbreviations for style collections that can be helpful. Most are self-explanatory, like HMW for Hamptons Weekend or GAL for Gallery. Others are not as obvious as PFM for Perfume or FLT for Flirt. It’s best to use a good Coach color abbreviation chart when you really need to be sure of a color or abbreviated style.
