Favorite Spring Break Spots

Spring is one of the ideal times to go on vacation, with all the flowers in full bloom and great weather after the long, cold days of winter. For college students, it’s also the time to enjoy spring break from school with friends. If you’re one of those contemplating where to spend a relaxing spring break, consider some of our favorite recommended Mediterranean and Caribbean spring break destinations.

If you want to experience the places of the Mediterranean, you can choose to go to Spain, Portugal, Cyprus or Turkey. The coasts of Spain offer a variety of stunning beaches. The sunny weather can be enjoyed for at least five hours each day with average temperatures ranging between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius. The beaches from the Costa Blanca, Costa Almería and Costa Dorada to the Costa del Sol are not that crowded compared to the areas.

The same favorable climate can be experienced on the Spanish Balearic and Canary Islands. The Balearic Islands off the southeast coast are made up of Mallorca, Menorca and the famous Ibiza. These places also have excellent beaches, ideal for the family. If you are a party animal, Ibiza is highly recommended for its lively nightlife. In the meantime, you can also explore the Canary Islands off the west coast of Morocco. Experience great accommodation, beaches and a rich history on the so-called “big four” holiday islands of the Canary Islands: Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote.

The southern coast of Portugal has a popular place that goes by the name of The Algarve. The spring weather there is also very pleasant and the sandy beaches of the Algarve are ideal for families and groups of friends or colleagues.

Cyprus is another ideal spring break location due to its fantastic beaches and sunny weather with just the right temperatures. The good thing is that the Republic of Northern Cyprus has opened up to tourism and vacationers now have more options. Language is not a problem as English is widely used on the island. Accommodations and other holiday facilities abound in the Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca areas, located on the Greek side of the island. The Troodos Mountains are an ideal scenic attraction for active vacationers who love hiking or biking. Some of the best beaches on the island are found on Karpas, a narrow peninsula that has long stretches of white sand beach. Among the best-known resorts are Kyrenia in the north and Famagusta on the east coast.

Turkey also has excellent resorts located along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts. These are Izmir, Bodrum, Kusadasi, Marmaris, and Antalya, among many others. More coastal towns are being developed for tourism purposes. Turkey has long been a favorite destination for British vacationers who love to explore the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts. Spring is the right time to enjoy the beaches of Turkey with good temperatures averaging between 17 and 21C.

If a Caribbean vacation is your dream, the best places to go are Jamaica, Punta Cana, Bermuda and Barbados. In Jamaica, there are many things you can do, such as scuba diving and parasailing on its unique beaches, climb Dunn’s River Falls, explore the forests, and walk around with your family and friends. Negril is an ideal spring break destination with seven miles of white-sand beaches. Experience real nature in Negril, as you won’t find the usual tall structures or chain hotels that abound in many beach resorts.

Bermuda offers a more private environment with fewer crowds. You can get around the island for sightseeing simply by riding a bike or by bus, taxi or ferry. Try cruise ship tours there and visit The Aquarium and Devil’s Hole, both popular tourist attractions.

For more privacy, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is the place to go. Several all-inclusive resorts offer a great experience. For more outdoor adventures, you can try a safari in the jungles of Hispaniola or swim alongside dolphins in the Caribbean Sea.
