granite tile counter

Granite is a beautiful, very hard natural stone that is used for kitchen countertops, monuments, sculptures, floor tiles and granite tile worktops, as well as many other uses where stone is preferred. The ancient Egyptians recognized the beauty of granite thousands of years ago and used it to make the pyramids for their pharaohs and other people of status and resources. They also used it in their houses as tiles. Besides, today we have heavy machinery to cut granite into desired squares and configurations. One wonders how the ancient Egyptians did it without today’s machinery.

Granite is used today in the house and particularly for countertops. In some cases, the homeowner may prefer a solid granite slab on the countertop, but there is an alternative. That alternative is a granite tile counter. A solid slab of granite can be very expensive and extremely heavy to apply. Tiles, on the other hand, are easier to work with and can be applied just like ceramic tiles. You can use granite tiles to cover the entire counter, or you can place them on a large stone in the center of a counter with smaller granite tiles around it. This larger tile can be used wherever a hard, slippery surface is needed, such as when rolling out dough. It would not be a good piece for cutting meat or vegetables.

A tile granite countertop is less expensive than a solid slab granite countertop and comes in many beautiful colors. If you have a certain color scheme that you want for your kitchen, you can get granite tiles to match or contrast the color. By using tile instead of a granite slab, you have the option to style your countertop. You can lay out the mosaics in the shape of squares or diamonds, or both, using the squares in the center and the diamonds on the edges of the countertop. The color combination and designs are limited only by your imagination. A variation of the countertop design can be brought to the floor using the thickest granite tile.
