Grandmaster Chai brought the sport to the US and the UFC provided a large-scale venue for fighters to practice the art in mixed martial arts. Muay Thai is characterized by kicks, punches, elbows, and knees. Kicks and knees on the legs are allowed in sport, and clinching with a technique known as “plum” is also legal.
