The current NBA Big Four

At the top of the two conferences, the Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat and LA Lakers are the teams in firm control. Although the Heat and Lakers have played one less game than the other two, their performances are quite outstanding. As it stands now, any team facing them will be considered lucky if they get a win. The one bitter pill to swallow for the Big Four is that no matter how good a team is, one day it will lose. In light of this, every game the Big Four plays counts, tomorrow the focus is on the Miami Heat when they host the Washington Wizards.

In last night’s games, 466 points were scored by four teams that posted high-scoring games in their two respective matches.

In San Antonio Texas, the Spurs received the Toronto Raptors without the services of Tim Duncan and Tony Parker won the game 131-124. Argentina’s Manu Ginobili records a season-high 36 points. The Raptors after losing Vince Carter to the Orlando Magic still find the road a bit rough, they have a team rooster anyway, who has enough potential to compete for a playoff spot.

In another high scoring game, the Golden State Warriors tamed the Minnesota Timber wolves 146-105. Both teams are still struggling this season, but if they can replicate this kind of performance in the next matches, they could improve their ranking.

Something to keep in mind is that if an NBA game ends with such a high score, it definitely means that the defense is not strong. The Spurs and Warriors won, however, if they don’t fix their defense, other teams will really take advantage of it.
