What are you looking for in children’s earrings?

What is sensitive to look for? Well, when we look for earrings for ourselves, we want comfort, security and of course, to look good. And we really want to LOVE earrings! Well, buying children’s earrings is very similar, but with a couple of extras to consider, especially when we buy our children their first pairs of earrings for freshly pierced ears. We have put together 6 points to guide you.

1. Earrings must first be made of non-toxic metal. Preferably sterling silver, stainless steel or gold. Alloys of which we must be careful, since we do not know the components and could contain elements as toxic as cadmium, lead or nickel. These elements can cause serious health problems for children, especially the very young.

2. They should be small so as not to overwhelm the small earlobe. Big earrings on small lobes, not a good look! Also, the bigger they are, the more they weigh and if they are first-time earring wearers, the smaller the better.

3. They must be light and comfortable. Especially for those who are wearing earrings for the first time, who could play if they can feel them. If they cannot feel them, they will forget that they are using them, therefore they will not play with them or lose them. Avoid small earrings for beginners, because the movement will only serve to remind them of the earrings they are wearing. Playing with them usually results in the back drop and the loss of an earring. And you don’t want to buy new children’s earrings every week!

4. They must have a short shaft, therefore, made for children, not adults. However, adults can generally wear children’s earrings! Surprisingly, the thickness of the ears does not change much as we grow older. But if the wand is short, it is not going to push your head behind your ear, which is very important!

5. Must have tightly fitting backs or security screw backs. The earrings that we choose with love, they are too good to lose!

6. And they must have an element that is attractive to children! Now this could be color, as in colored stones or enamels, or shape, as in features such as hearts, ladybugs, butterflies, etc. Sparkle and shine is another very attractive feature for children. A sparkling lead-free crystal or a stone with zircons, especially in pink or another color suitable for children, or highly polished silver or gold, both characteristics that children, especially the little ones, really love.
