Will Total Talk Voip Replace AOL’s Internet Phone?

Making calls to your friends and family through your regular phone is becoming obsolete. It is now the norm for people to talk to their friends and family through instant messaging services like Yahoo, AOL and MSN. Another version of using your computer to communicate is to use VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).

What exactly is VoIP and how is it used?

VoIP is a class of hardware and software that allows people to use the Internet to make phone calls. One of the many advantages of this type of service is that it is not overloaded. The amount you pay for this service is included in your monthly Internet rates.

AOL is launching a new “Total Talk VoIP” that will replace AOL Internet Phone. The difference is that with AOL Internet Phone was available exclusively to those who were AOL members. With Total Talk VoIP, broadband users in the United States and Canada will enjoy the convenience that AOL offers. Some of the services offered with Total Talk VoIP include:

* E911

* 3 way call

* Call management and voicemail

AOL prides itself on offering many features that its competitors don’t. Users of AOL’s VoIP services can receive alerts about new voice messages delivered directly to their cell phones, if they so choose. Along with that convenience, VoIP service allows multiple extensions without requiring different phone numbers. This is a great value if you have more than one person in your household taking calls or for family with teenagers. AOL is also working to offer a new Total Talk section that enables not only the ability to make PC-to-PC calls, but also PC-to-Phone and Phone-to-PC calls.

AOL has three different types of plans available including unlimited local and regional calling, unlimited calling in the United States and Canada, and unlimited calling in the United States and Canada along with low international rates. Before deciding on plans, carefully review what they have to offer. There may be penalties if you sign up for the service and then decide it’s not what you expected and cancel. Look to see if there are any installation or setup fees. When you select your plan, AOL will send you everything you need to translate your phone number into your computer to make and receive calls. If you have any difficulties setting up the Total Talk VoIP AOL service, you can call their technical support department 24 hours a day and they will be happy to help you through the setup and connection process.
