The Best Hotels in Mauritius

Mauritius is surrounded by a spine of high, jagged terrain, long, sweeping beaches, and a typical climate that attracts tourists year-round. But what Mauritius has best are the hotels, and that has a lot to do with the friendly Mauritian people who effortlessly work in them.

Royal Palm

Pet called Royal Calm, this is the island’s sophisticated hotel, a destination with exceptional taste. The only sounds he would hear are the cooing of doves and the chirping of words, the silence of the sea and the sound of a piano at sunset. Many visitors are regulars, and most of the staff have been providing services for at least a decade. It is an elite hotel and people love to stay here. The setting is perfect; on a personal white sand beach a short drive from Grand Baie, the closest thing to a resort in Mauritius. All rooms and suites are renovated and have a brand new look.

prince maurice

Built from dark wood and volcanic stone, the only hotel in Mauritius that is cut off from the real world by approximately 150 acres of twisted vegetation. It has approximately 89 well equipped and furnished suites, a large number of them overlooking the nice and beautiful little beach, some of them over the lagoon, they are well cared for by an army of 350 well trained employees who are exceptionally hospitable.

Le Prince has a wonderful pool and two restaurants, one floating on the water and accessible by a path through the mangroves.

exotic taj

This is the only hotel in Mauritius with a villa hotel and sits on a wide, tree-lined beach facing Tamarin Bay, and has been designed for outdoor living. Each of the 66 villas has an open plan living room with espresso machine, DVD/CD with surround sound and a large flat screen LCD TV opening onto a private garden with pool and a double bed.

You can enjoy a dinner in your garden, on the beach, at the end of the day and completely relax.

Paradise/Dinarobin

These two hotels together share the expansive five-mile beach in the picturesque and beautiful southwest corner of the island. If you love to play golf, choose Paradis, where the 18-hole course lined with coconut palms is just a minute from reception. Close by is the less important and less chaotic Dinarobin, which has a great new spa in a fabulous setting next to the volcanic slopes of Le Morne.
